BINDINGS FOR SNOWBOARDS
LOOKING FOR THE BEST SNOWBOARD BINDING FOR YOU?
The connection between snowboarder and snowboard. The importance of a good snowboard binding is often underestimated and seen as a necessary evil. Buying snowboard bindings online is no problem, but be well informed. A bad binding, or a binding that does not match your riding style can have a lot of (negative) impact. The combination of snowboard, snowboard binding and snowboard boot should be seen as a perfect trinity. Below are some tips for buying a good snowboard binding.
FREESTYLE SNOWBOARD BINDING
this one is made to give you the ultimate freedom while doing your Freestyle tricks. Whether it's the first 180's or 360's, jibbing or buttering on the slopes, or maybe in the snowboard halfpipe or in the snowboard park. You are well secured, and you have comfortable straps that keep the shoes in place, but there is freedom of movement and flexibility. And you need the latter while freestyling. Still quite nice if you land a jump and your binding bends a bit so that the energy from the landing can gradually flow away. (Imagine the opposite, you are completely stuck on your board in a super stiff ski boot and you land a jump or turn on the slope over your nose, from your lower leg there is no room and/or slack to move, with possible knee injuries).
FREERIDE SNOWBOARD BINDING
A binding that offers a little more support so you can also stay in control when you're making those carved turns on the early icy slopes at high speed. With enough flex to comfortably pull those surfy turns in the deep snow or land a cliff jump. Actually a binding that can be used for everything, beginner or advanced boarders, all circumstances.
HIGH PERFORMANCE SNOWBOARD BINDING
The snowboard bindings from the higher (read: more expensive) segment. Real all-rounders or some very dedicated on 1 betting range. The components often have better quality, more comfort, and alloys of materials are more durable and more responsive.
Within the individual categories there are of course various variants.
KIDS, LADIES, OR MEN BINDINGS
First, a subdivision into children's, women's and men's snowboard bindings, with particular attention to size and weight of the user. The impact on the binding by the different riders will also be different. To further connect the bindings with the target group, they naturally come in matching colors and designs.
STEP-IN, STEP-ON, CLICK SYSTEM.
A variant in which you get in and out very easily is called the step-in binding. A great advantage if, for example, you are going to teach or go on a winter sports holiday with the family and you no longer want the rest to have to wait for you every time. Examples of this are the FLOW bindings and SP snowboard bindings.
Burton has brought the step-on binding back to the market. There used to be several click systems, but none of these systems proved to be good enough to survive. The BURTON step on system seems to have been developed so far that it does have the right properties. It's based on a simple idea where you lock the heel and click into the front of the shoe. So get in and out in a few seconds.
